Meet the Founder & Lead Esthetician,

Shay Flynn (She/Her)

Hi, I’m Shay Michele Flynn (she/her), founder of Face Allies NYC. I’ve been an esthetician for nearly 9 years, driven by a passion for helping people feel confident in their skin.

My skincare adventure started with a love for makeup,  my skin for color and glitters galore. I went deeper into it as my own lifelong journey with acne-prone, sensitive skin intensified. Learning to care for it properly taught me firsthand the importance of self-care & skin health.

After beginning my gender transition in 2021, I continued working in spas and luxury skincare boutiques despite them not providing the quality of care nor opportunities Trans People deserve. As a 3/4 deaf person, my hearing loss also made it more difficult to be hired. 

I persisted and learned everything I could about the art of facials and the science of skincare, using myself as a guinea pig for new treatments and protocols. 

After being laid off from a cryo-skincare startup in Rockefeller Center, I knew there had to be a better way to reach people to support their skincare journey. 

That’s why I launched Face Allies in 2022: to offer skincare that’s accessible, inclusive, and effective. Focused on providing care to everyone, with accessible pricing, putting the best products and treatments in a much broader reach. I wanted a space where clients feel like they’re at home, a valued member of the community and the Face Allies Family. 

Since then, I’ve touched hundreds of faces, donated an incredible $11,000 in treatments and products to mutual aid fundraisers, drag pageants like Mx.Stonewall, Miss D(rag)America, and community events such as STAND UP! NYC.

 Outside the treatment room, I create art under the name TS.SHAY STUDIO (@ts.shay.studio on Instagram!) and display it in the waiting area and treatment room. I also love to cook, learning to roll out pasta, and challenge myself through education.

Meet our Master Esthetician,

Sam Meyerson (She/Her)

Hi, I’m Sam Meyerson (she/her), a beauty industry veteran with over 12 years of expertise. I’ve worn many hats, as a medical esthetician, esthetics educator, skincare marketing expert, makeup artist, and children’s face painter.

I first got into skincare to treat my cystic acne as a teen, and beam with pride when people don’t believe it was part of my journey. 

My signature as a professional is my in-depth consultation style, confident hands, and commitment to clinically tested, scientifically supported products and treatments. I have experience working at many of NYC’s busiest and most popular spas, and have adopted techniques from each and every one.

In my free time I like to see local drag shows in Astoria and beyond. I paint with alcohol inks, love going to figure drawing and watching Pokémon and Steven Universe reruns.

Having lived as a trans person for years, I am committed to creating a respectful, warm, and safe spa space for all my queer and queer-adjacent siblings, niblings, and allies.

 We offer a variety of curated treatments, using only the highest quality products to address each client’s unique needs. We believe that skincare should be accessible to all, regardless of background or skin type, and strive to make each person feel seen, valued, and cared for. 

With a strong commitment to inclusivity, we proudly provide gender-affirming care, creating a safe and supportive space for everyone to feel comfortable and confident on their skincare journey. We provide skincare and advice to prep for FFS, FMS, and to support top surgery recovery with LED Light Therapy and exfoliation (with MD approval).

TS.SHAY STUDIO

TS.SHAY STUDIO (@ts.shay.studio on instagram!) is a visual celebration of Shay’s experience as a trans woman, expressed through vibrant drawings, paintings, and sculptures. 

Her work blends 3D printing and design software with traditional mediums such as colored pencil, acrylic paint, and graphite. My latest work uses rhinestones to infuse magic and texture into each sculpture. These campy sculptures take moments of perception and self-realization and combine them with pressing moments in my personal history. 

All artwork in the Studio is available for sale, price catalog available upon request.
